Decreasing Danger
Problem #1 Comments
While wind drifted snow may not be the primary concern for the Wasatch, it was the main factor for our AM tour. Skiing on the lower angle, east faces at upper elevation allowed for some enjoyable skiing. A few pole depth checks here and there ranging from 7" to 14" at higher elevations. Steep pockets will slide if you find them/ski them.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Trend
Same
Problem #2 Comments
As I mentioned in my previous obs, our primary conern for the Persistent Weak Layer is the NFL or November Facet Layer. With wind drifted snow and new snow accumluation, you can expect this layer to be more sensitive with the extra weight added.
Comments
Noticed a little bit of cracking on our way up. Very cold morning. Winds seemingly died down, though our view over Toledo looked as if LCC was bit more windy.
