Comments
We dug two pits with <70 cm snow depth on a slope 13-15 degrees around 8350 ft elevation, just to check what the snowpack is looking like. Both pits had two weak, sugary layers: one below the recent storm snow and one a couple inches off the ground - see photos. In the afternoon, winds were picking up, temperatures were warming above freezing, and precipitation varied between light snow and mist.
