Red Flags Comments
The snow is a wide mix of conditions, from wind/sun crusts to recycled powder (facets), even spring like conditions in the lower elevations. In many wind and sun sheltered areas surface hoar is in abundance. Northerly slopes are starting to facet throughout the snowpack, with a crust near the surface and increased density in the bottom 10cm's near the ground.
Comments
I really don't like the way things are setting up in the Ogden mountains right now. We have a shallow, weak snow pack, and all of us are hungry to get out and get some turns. I suspect we will have an influx of new users this year as people move out of the resort and into the backcountry. Right now, conditions are stable and the danger is low. Come the next big storm, however, we will need to step out very cautiously.
Sun crusts starting to form.
