Comments
I went out for a walk along the Powerline Ridge area to look at the snow. Winds where calm and it was quite cool in the shade. I initially noted the nice facet layer on the surface in the shaded areas. It at actually made for some nice skiing.
I dug a pit around 9,200ft on a NE slope in a sheltered area. It initially wanted to check out the surface hoar which was very apparent. The snow depth was 45cm deep with ~5cm of faceted snow on top. Around 33cm and 22cm I noted a crusts. Likely from freeze/thaw cycle. A point of note would be in a CT I had a CTP23 with a Q2/3 shear that was on this 33cm crust. It did not transfer over to my ECT. Many layers showed signs of faceting.
On south facing sloped the snow warmed up a little bit at mid elevation and upper, but still maintained a hard crust. It became hard and icey as it fell into shadow.
