Location Name or Route

Comments
Traveled from Mill D trailhead up the summer road to the base of the Tube and then traversed over to Montreal Hill. Coverage is very thin, including on the road itself. TH temp was around 60F at 14:30, and well above freezing at 8800'. Snow surface is largely damp rounds with some thin surface sun crusts in gully bottoms and sheltered areas. Total snow height is around 30-40cm with obvious extensive settling. Structure is upright with the exception of wet density near the surface in areas spared a refreeze last night. There were some impressive rollerballs on steep E-facing cuts below 8k'. I'm expecting that dense/wet snow this may be a good base for additional precip, particularly if weather continues as forecast and we don't develop NSF below the sun crust. For now, travel and ski conditions remain poor to unworkable below 9k' even on North facing slopes in the Cardiff Fork. Access to the upper slopes would be easier and safer via LCC.
