Snow Characteristics Comments
Storm total amounts went from a trace at the s-turns to about 8 or 9 inches at 9500ft at the top of the Diving Board. Sun filtering through clouds was greenhousing all aspect throughout the day, NE facing on the DB was dry on top but damp down lower and the old snow underlying the new is still damp and not frozen.
Comments
Went to the DB to avoid crowds and see what happened during the warm spell. There was new glide avalanche activity between the DB and Bonkers as well as wet activity from today in the form of roller balls and point releases. While walking up the DB in dense fog I came across a debris field from a very large sluff or soft slab that had released off one of the SLC Twins above the DB most likely yesterday afternoon. The light was never good enough to see the entire drainage so it's likely that there where more debris piles around. The snow is almost gone at the lower elevation trail head and walking in dirt will soon be required.
