Skied North Woods and NE Cirque off Tuk this weekend. Found stable conditions.
Dug 4 pits at different aspects (N, NE, NW ~10'500ft). Found 1mm rounding facets on all pits at depth of 20cm to 40cm. Snowpack was 130-140cm on sheltered pits. One pit showed 200cm depth. Did 3 ECT tests with no results. Couldn't get any clean shears on 2 of 3 shovel shears. The one semi clean shear showed larger crystals on top of the facet layer. Maybe surface hoar?
New snow from last week appears to be sticking to the facets relatively well.
Sheltered N facing trees skied well. Tuk was firm and challenging.
