Snow Characteristics Comments
Snow characteristics extremely aspect and elevation dependent. Yesterdays sun crust broke down quickly on southerly aspects and in many places was fully broken down before 10am. Supportable wind skin even into sheltered terrain below 9500' on easterly aspects. Only the most sheltered high elevation northern terrain was still holding recrystallized near surface snow. The early February crust was still very obvious anywhere from at the surface to a foot down. Of note was 2-3 mm facets just above and below the crust. Will be interesting how this reacts to the new weekend load.
