Comments
Today I just wanted to see what the snow surfaces looked like, and how the Provo area mountains were influenced by the winds earlier in the week. As I said, the main concern is the slide for life conditions, on most aspects, the snow was either a fully supportable wind drift or a supportable solar crust. Trent hit the nail on the head, and above treeline it was the type of day that ski crampons would have been enjoyable. On North aspects, in areas that hadn't been impacted by the winds dense loose snow and enjoyable skiing still exist. The cold temperatures could lead to the weakening of the snow surface on North facing aspects, but right now we weren't able to get any movement even on steep terrain. When the next system comes, I would be concerned about the firm crusts being a bed surface for any new snow to run easily on, on S, E, W.
