Comments
Pretty awful skiing conditions. Everything was crusty with a thick layer of facets / soft snow hidden right underneath. I dug a small pit at about 7500 feet on a E-NE facing slope. Pictures below but the gist is there was about an inch of crust, ~6 inches of very loose snow, and 6 inches of slightly harder, but still soft old snow on top of a great supportable layer I couldn't find the bottom of. Up high the wind was blowing over the ridge, transporting anything loose it could find.. which wasn't much as it's all pretty wind scoured. The cornices are looking pretty sizely. Saw the first of the new snowfall in the next storm sometime around noon as I was getting off the mountain.
