Our party of two headed out of the Brighton Hidden Canyon gate and traversed across to the Hidden Canyon saddle and toured up 10420. Along the way, we dug a snowpit at 10240 ft on a SW aspect in sheltered terrain on a ~30 degree slope. Depth of the pit was 200 cm and showed good snow structure. The pit did not show any crust layers and progressed from fist hardness at 200-170cm to 4 finger hardness 170-150cm. On our tour, we only had one small collapse on a heavily wind effected area and minor cracking under the same conditions. Did not experience any issues with sluffing. Wind was minimal throughout the day and there was pretty consistent light snowfall. Overall great skiing conditions and a fantastic day to be out.
