Red Flags Comments
I would call these yellow flags...as winds seemed (for Ben Lomond) to be on good behavior and may have affected only the highest ridgelines.
Comments
We triggered a couple size 0.5 sluffs and soft slabs with ski cuts on 40° test slopes at 8500'. Running on interface within the storm snow 4-6" down and perhaps 30' wide. Ran only a hundred feet or so. Photos below.
Very minor soft cornice fall noted along subridges.
Ephemeral interfaces noted within the storm snow 3-6" down; 2" of graupel perhaps 8" down and the New Year's interface down 40-50cm (ECTN28). This interface should not pose a problem and hazard will be a direct result of precipitation intensity and wind with the upcoming storm(s). Coverage, quality, and stability are good in the Ogden mountains.
