Problem #2 Comments
Noticed weaker snow from Christmas cold spell under the New Years snow at mid and lower elevations. Did not look at sunny upper elevation slopes. Found weak sugary October snow in basal layer of snow pit. No real signs of strengthening or rounding, but without any recent activity it appears dormant and the 4'+ deep hard slab would be very difficult for a person to trigger.

Comments
Although the powder wasn't quite as fluffy as it was last week, we found nice conditions in sheltered terrain. The snow surface was pretty wind jacked, sastrugi, or hard drifts at upper elevations in exposed terrain.
