Comments
Hadn’t been out in the mid canyon terrain yet this year. Toured up Mill D North, up to Dog Lake then proceeded into Butler Fork to Soldier Peak. Climbing up the ridge of Soldier Fork we experience multiple large collapses with shooting cracks, but surprisingly no avalanches were triggered remotely. Dug a snow pit at 9400ft due N facing, wind sheltered and the information can be seen in the video. Things seem to be pretty hair triggered on any steep slopes with old underlying faceted snow, and with more snow and wind tonight the hazard will remain high.
