Snow Characteristics Comments
Went to upper Cardiff Fork via the Alta Guard, S and SW facing has melted down to the dirt, SE facing has a melt freeze crust or is down to the dirt also. All the high elevation N, NE, and E has faceted out to the dirt. There was about 18 inches of snow at 10,300ft NE facing on LSB which has mostly become square powder, ie faceted, there are a few remaining wind slabs that are in the process of decomposing into facets. The Cardiac area has fairly consistent coverage all the way down to the drainage bottom, not a good set up for a storm with a decent load.
