Comments
Went out for a walk to S Monitor hoping that I would find some dryish snow. While ascending through Main Willow, the snow was very damp up to about 9k. The snow below the surface was also very damp. Once above 9K the snow was very dense but was much less damp. The clouds were very thick and the visibility was extremely limited. The clouds opened just enough that I could make out the entrance to S Monitor Bowl and the large drooping cornice. I kicked around on a less steep section of the bowl and the snow immediately ran in a wetish pushalanche. It moved very slowly down the slope and only went down a few hundred feed. The slide was only about 10 feet wide and didn't connect and release the steeper section of the bowl. As forecasted, the new snow was not really bonding well to the old loose surface snow. Due to the conditions and being alone I didn't end up skiing into the bowl. While exiting Main Willow the snow below 9K had become much more damp than when I was on my way in. If temps don't cool off much overnight I would expect the wet activity will continue into tomorrow.
