Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Problem #1 Comments
Wind drifted snow. I intentionally triggered a wind drift which triggered a very small fresh Windslab on ridge of wolverine bowl.
Blizzard like conditions on ridge. Snow being transported all the way to bus stop
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
New Snow
Problem #2 Comments
New snow old snow interface.
I intentionally triggered a small avalanche, dog lake chute 9800'NE facing. No m/fcrust underneath 20'x6" even depth on crown. ran 300' slowly. Wind was probably loading it a bit too.
Guessing new snow )old snow interface
Location would likely have old surface facets that we're just buried by today's new snow
Comments
Mostly bad bottom feeding on a crust. Careful aspect selection =bottom less above 9500. Snowflakes were very small, new snow med density rode velvety, but many areas lightly wind damaged
I looked below m/f crust in a few places w different thicknesses. Pencil M/f Crust is lightly bonded to a 4 finger layer below that doesn't appear to be faceting
Snow tapered at noon.
