Comments
Went up to ski the Coalpit Couloirs but mostly to get a view of the ridge line, thinking of touring options for later in the week. Nothing too surprising: lots of recent (natural) wet slides (all relatively small but one that could have tripped someone up and carried them over the cliff at the bottom of the couloir) and heavy wind loading at the ridge line (see picture). On the north side of the ridge, all was still. On the south side, it was gusting heavily, and the ridge showed it. Tomorrow's conditions were already making such terrain a dubious endeavor but with heavy snow weighing on those massive cornices, the odds of something breaking free (perhaps with a person below them, like in the Y or Coalpits) are probably not worth taking.
