Snow Characteristics Comments
Graupel on a variety of surfaces: mf crust on south; hard, inert wind slab on north. Improved conditions though bottom feeding up high and on south. Hard wind slabs are slick beneath the new.
Southerly and west saw just enough sun to have a slight crust tomorrow morning.

Red Flags Comments
No red flags - though noted some control work had some results with wind slab on Baldy.
Comments
2-4" hard wind slabs from the strong southerlies on the 27th inert by our findings and covered by the 4" or so of new the last couple days.
Jaws had what looked like an intentional cornice drop that left a size 1 hard debris pile in the lower track and triggered a 2" and 30' wide new snow slide (pic).
Cornices are the real deal and best to be avoided. Pic shows where safe travel should be along corniced ridgelines. Not at the apex of the ridge but slope parallel (extended) plus a touch more back for good measure. (pic).
If winds verify, tomorrow's main issue will be wind slabs.
