Problem #1 Comments
We didn't notice much wind effected snow in the mid elevations, however, once we approached the ridge line it was a different story. Our party experienced cracking. Winds were moderate until hit about ~500 feet from the ridge line, and we observed intense snow transport and sustained strong winds. We found variable riding conditions up high, and much better snow/riding quality in mid elevation sheltered areas. Visibility was too poor to see if there were any natural avalanches or cornice falls.
Southerly winds didn't ease in the afternoon like the forecast had suggested.

Problem #2 Comments
The foot or so of new snow seemed like it was bonded well with the sun crust present on southerly aspects. However, hasty tests suggested some reactivity under the crust where we observed some damp near-surface facets. With the cold temps forecasted, I expect the damp facets to freeze into a consolidated layer. I will be keeping my eyes on them as we add more water weight to the equation.
Comments
Over all, it was a great day to be out in the storm. Best riding was found at mid elevation sheltered slopes- up high was variable wind scoured surfaces.
The sun crust seemed to be ski-supportable, and offered a firm surface to break trail on.
For now, I will be avoiding leeward slopes at mid and upper elevations, seeking good riding conditions in sheltered locations!
