Headed up porter fork @ 7 this morning. Very calm lower in the canyon but wind turned on quickly at around 9400 ft. Cornices were huge and growing on Alexander/Porter fork ridgline. Very Sensitive wind slabs on and near ridges. Sking was great below 9400 ft, very supportable easy snow to ride, above 9400 was a little less predictable and less enjoyable because of poor visibility and wind.
From about 11 to 1 there was some sleet creating a thin crust and giving the surface of the snow a glassy feel. We exited @about 3 pm and experienced rapid warming still in the clouds and regardless of aspect. Greenousing continued to get worse as we descended. Significant rollerballing was observed.
