Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Trend
Same
Problem #1 Comments
Most of the snowpack at the mid elevations where we were traveling was weak on all aspects. There lacked a cohesive slab but on higher wind affected elevations I would be very wary.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Trend
Decreasing Danger
Problem #2 Comments
Shallow, wind affected snow was prevalent in open terrain, but was not very reactive. Again, guard would be up in higher terrain
Comments
Persistent weak snow remains an issue with lots of collapsing noticed today and ample facets found throughout snowpack. Future snow events and slab development will need to be monitored closely. Many recent avalanches from the past week were observed from mostly in the alpine on easterly aspects and appeared to be failing on basal facets
