Comments
I Had a collapse top of weathering heights on peak/ walking along cornice.
1/4" or more Grauple fell mid morning . Wind damage in West facing trees even low.
Winds noted strong south and west moving snow. Skinner and tracks slowly refilling.
Some minor cracking 2-4" down in new snow.
We we're not on anything remotely steep today.
Snowstructure is bad. I found areas with a band of sugar snow roughly 2-4" thick 8" to 12" off ground. This band in this area is below a 2" thick stout hard crust. Boot penetration is beyond crotch in some areas. This was around Tom's hill e facing.
Questions going fwd.
1.How did the old facet snow surface hold up? any surface hoar survive?
2.the mid to lower level sugar layer, how much weight will it hold? Are we there now?
3. How long for windslabs to bond?
4. Depth hoar, enough load to reawaken?
