The first avalanche and the largest one seems to have failed on a persistent weak layer of facets. Possible under (or maybe above) a crust.

Photo below of snowpit wall graphed in the profile above. Snow was very warm. Seemed almost damp in the lower half of the snowpack where it was weaker and a little faceted.

Photo of one of the slopes that produced a sizable natural avalanche and phot of the closed section of road as of (Jan 7, 2019). The county anticipated starting work to clear the road on Jan 8.
