Problem #1 Comments
We observed a wind slab on the top 1/3 of Tele Gold. Approximately 30cm thick and moderately bonded to the underlying snow. Not reactive but indicative of snow transport at mid / upper elevations.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Trend
Increasing Danger
Problem #2 Comments
Standard La Sal facet garden seemingly at all aspects and elevations. The snowpack is weak and thin but overall lacked sufficient energy for avalanches. There are probably small pockets of wind slab / persistent weak layer out there that could slide.
Comments
Tour to Tele Gold today. Most of the way there and back was sun crust or wind slab but we found good snow on the lower 2/3 of Tele Gold. Upper 1/3 was wind drifted snow. The road was slick and we pulled a truck out of the ditch on the way down.
