The soft sugary snow surface was sculpted by last night's east wind in places, but it was still very soft. We saw a couple fresh natural avalanches involving wind drifted snow on the east face of Providence Peak.
The snow is sugary and faceted throughout, but right side up. (gradually softer as you move up through the snowpack). Here's a look at the facets in my pit.
I found a Moderate danger only in upper elevation drifted terrain. Recent natural activity confirms heightened avalanche conditions.. The snow is generally stable and the danger Low where it's not drifted.
