Snow Characteristics Comments
The surface snow looked to be faceting very quickly. The overall structure in this area was surprisingly poor. While generally right side up the majority of the pack is weak faceted snow. The snow near the ground was fist hard depth hoar. We didn't see any red flags in our travels today and it seems that currently the pack is comfortable in its own skin. However with so much weak snow I think an additional load would change things. The riding conditions were surprisingly good as long as you stuck to sheltered terrain. Any exposed areas were really wind hammered.
