As I skinned the North face of the North Pyramid in lower Hell's canyon, I saw very thick surface hoar from bottom to top. This is on top of a couple inches of faceted snow, which was on top of a breakable crust. Seems like a perfect setup for a weak layer after new snow is deposited on top of this. Guessing the condition goes farther up Hells Canyon.
