Comments
Calm evening with temps in the low thirties. Extremely pleasant time to be out despite nearly-absent skiing opportunities below 10500'. Northerly aspects are holding 6-18" of snow which is almost invariably facets. More exposed areas with easterly and westerly exposure have a mix of supportable crusts, windboard, and moderate-density wind-drifted snow. Southerly aspects are nearly bare. High north-facing terrain was almost skiable if you don't like your skis or your knees. There is a thin pencil-hard crust near the surface, with a 4f faceting crust in the mid-pack. Both above and below the intermediate crust are facets of increasing size. Not a great situation. I'll be praying for a high-altitude rain event before the next storm.
