Decided it was time to have a look on the south side of LCC, been avoiding this area most of the year due to low snow, I usually don't head in that direction until Alta has a 100 inch base due to the rocky terrain. The upper alpine in Red pine was a bit wind hammered but I think the last few cold clear nights have recrystallized the surface snow and improved the riding conditions. Much of the east facing terrain beyond the lake had avalanched during the last storm and obvious crowns could be seen between the ridge to the Pfeifferhorn and White Baldy. Wet activity was noted on the W and E facing in the upper drainage mostly large point releases and roller balling. I was surprised to ski one line that was sun exposed with a SE aspect that still held dry settled snow. The clouds and a bit cooler temperatures kept the heat related activity in check today but with warmer temps in the forecast I would think more wet activity is a real possibility.

Photos: wet activity on SW,W and E, our sorry snow-pack on White Baldy, can't even find a clean line through the rocks this year as apposed to last year when the whole thing was skiable, and a surprisingly dry run on a E-SE, sun exposed aspect
