Snow Characteristics Comments

There seemed to be much less snow in the Monitors than in Cardiff yesterday, there's about a foot of settled creamy snow resting on a soft base in both bowls. By the time of our exit there was damp snow on SE,SW,S, and E facing

Comments

Both S and W Monitor had storm snow avalanches during the storm but no evidence of anything going into older layering. Both bowls also had natural cornice drops that didn't produce avalanching either. Skiers left side of South Monitor was getting damp by the afternoon and some wet activity was noted on the SE facing from today and yesterday. Didn't really seem like there was enough weight in the last storm to tip any scales in the terrain covered. S through E will be crusted in the AM at least in the 10'000ft sun exposed realm, W might get crusted as well.

Photos: wet activity, and natural cornice drops in South Monitor Bowl.
