Comments
Snow pit was dug on the NE aspect of the north end of Meadow Chutes, just north of Brad's Line. Total snow depth ~130 cm. Dust layer at ~90 cm depth, thin faceted layers at ~80cm and ~65 cm (small crystals). Large layer (~7cm thick) of large sugary facets at ground. One single column compression test failed on 21st compression (1st at full arm force) on the weak layer at ~65 to 70 cm, a second single column test failed on the 22nd compression (2nd at full arm force) at the facets near the ground. Two extended column tests (one with a three shovel width column and one with a two shovel width column) were performed, with one breaking at ~75cm (non planar break) and one breaking at ~80cm (planar break), but neither showed any propagation across the column.
