Problem #1 Comments

I was in a very protected canyon with little wind and little slab formation. The rain crust is down 28 cm (11 inches) and only about 1 1/2 thick at 8400 ft. This is much less of a crust than along the Wasatch front (Cutler ridge area). I still was able to get a good ECT 13 on the faceted snow beneath the crust. I just was unable to find much of a slab in this area.

1. Rain crust at 8400ft. with faceted snow beneath

2. Very good turning on protected, north low angle slopes from 7800-8800 ft.
