Today I wanted to use the skin trail I put up Cardiac Ridge yesterday to access the Room of Doom in upper Mineral Fork today. Placement of the skin track was not a issue yesterday due to cold temperatures and cloudy skies, but I knew a warm up was coming tomorrow and tried to place the track out of wet slide terrain. Right on schedule the wet slides started to peal off the SE facing cliffs on Cardiac Ridge about 10:00am, they entrained quite a bit of snow and left large debris piles in the lower angle terrain but none of them crossed yesterdays skin track. We spent some time in Cardiff skiing and waiting for the sun angle to veer off the SE facing on the Ridge and let the wet slides do their thing. The Room of Doom had a little slabby snow in the top due to the NW winds but it was only in the upper chute. Buy the time we were working on our second run in Mineral the W facing became active and the wet slides and point releases on that aspect were still running on our exit at 3:00pm. The cornices are massive on the ridge lines and the warming temperatures are going to weaken their structure and make them prone to calving off naturally and with the weight of a person. I would say the biggest concerns for tomorrow are the wet activity, which will be less active than today and cornice falls which might be more active. Getting caught on a steep unforgiving slope when its already damp is not recommended, there's lots of new snow for wet slides to entrain.

Photos: Wet slides on Cardiac Ridge, safe route up the Ridge that avoided being buried in wet slide debris, and a huge cornice with a massive crack in it, can't believe this one has not dropped yet.

Thinking moderate tomorrow for wet activity, cornice falls and glide activity.
