Started at the Alta Guard station and headed up to LSB NE facing, there was some wind slab in the top but it was not going anywhere, and sluffing was a thing of the past. In all the terrain covered the snow seemed plastered in place and the density inversion was settled out with the warm temperatures, many steep lines were skied without incidence. Breaking trail up Cardiac Bowl I hit some fairly thick wind slab right below the right ventricle 60ft from the top, I was concerned for a minute because I could initiate some fairly substantial shooting cracks in the wind slab, cracking out about 8 inches deep but even in the steepest sections the slabs would not move on the underlying snow. I had to physically remove the slab even on a 40+ degree slope to show the fracture in a photo. Down lower in the drainage you could initiate push- alanches in the damp snow that would gouge down to the old crusted snow surface. I was expecting a little more activity today but I think the warm temperatures aided in rapid settlement and the bond of the old snow surface to the new snow was bomber in the terrain covered.
