Mostly cloudy AM with some periods of slight clearing and filtered sunshine in the afternoon. Light off and on snowfall with and inch of accumulation during the day. Cold.

Spent the day looking at S and SW facing slopes at 10K and above. Found them to be a bit spooky Upper elevations had a very thin snowpack due to the strong SW winds during all the January storms. Due at least in part to being shallow, there was faceted snow both above and below a suncrust 60 cm down. Easy failure in pits, with full propagation in the weakest areas (see profile below). Due to our observations, opted to ski low angle subridges. Glad we did, as during our last run, we remotely triggered a slide on a steep crossloaded slope (see separate avalanche observation).
