Snow Characteristics Comments

3 or so inches of new snow sitting on well developed surface hoar.

Snow pack in my area of travel was 140cm at best. On more exposed areas more like 50cm due to the sun and or wind. Snow is relatively thin in this area of the range. Pole probing revealed many layers. Climbing was a bit more work than expected due to the slippery nature of the buried surface hoar.. No real big deal now but with more load it will be something to keep in mind.

Red Flags Comments
It's been a while since signifigant snow fall. Went back to an area I visited about 3 or 4 days ago to see if the hoar frost was still around. Looks like the wind did not get that issue taken care of in this area. A few shallow sluffs running full track on very steep terrain only.

No real problems to speak of today.

IF it snows things will certainly change.
