Comments
I got out early this morning and found about 4 inches of new snow. Due to the lack of wind in sheltered terrain it appears the surface hoar may have been preserved within the new snow. I'll be watching this layer over the next few storms to see if it becomes a concern. I was able to easily sluff out this steep north facing terrain. The sluffs ran very fast on the old snow and did create few larger piles. In larger terrain, such as the Uinta interior, I would expect to see sluffs getting quite large and potentially very dangerous if you were to get caught up in it. In some open terrain in the area I observed some loading which likely blew away the surface hoar in the process but also left behind these small slabs.
