Snow Characteristics Comments
Short tour, 7300-8300' looking for buried facets. On way up diggin all over eyes saw nothing buried. Ene 33 degrees sun dappled. Dry new light snow 1"deep on top. on way down my board talked to me. surface facets buried below snow rode alternatively slightly damp(not super sloppy but noisy) and some light crispy, but in some spots(dark) familiar sound of surface facets on my board. Bout 5 turns out of a hundred round 7900' making the noise, so guessing most cooked if any light on slope but if deep n dark... I found no buried surface hoar except in spruces campground in flats in shade(trees) but still had open sky above. Conclusion. My board talks to me, my eyes lie. imo surface facets in darker steeper areas at elevation toured, but suspect a 2 day light cook cycle cooked most
