Todays plan was to head up Cardiff from BCC and ski the lower angle terrain in Ivory Flakes but we ended up in Cardiac after we saw the large avalanche that I put on the Avy page. Only avalanche activity noted was the large slide in Cardiac and a small soft slab on LSB NE facing. This weeks storm snow seems to have settled out nicely with no cracking or collapsing experienced today. I would still be wary of wind affected terrain in the high alpine but I think the main player tomorrow may be the sun if it decides to show it's face. The light density sitting on top of the denser snow will go off rapidly with heating of the sun on S facing aspects. Our snow pack is getting deep and I think the layering is heeling but there is no need to rush into steep exposed terrain, the boot deep snow is perfect for lower angle riding. It almost felt like it was green housing a bit this afternoon with high humidity and low lying clouds and fog, you might find a zipper crust on some aspects if we don't get a cold clear night tonight.

Photo: Fog rolling in in the afternoon.
