Snow Characteristics Comments

Dusting of low density snow over last weekends two act storm, best behaved pack we have seen in several years, echo what KOW had been finding elsewhere, crusts evident on E/S/W faces, and once sun got on snow was dampening surface. In the very shelter areas in the trees and well protected N facing spots, pack not as strong, more penetration, but still gaining strength. It is so nice not to find monsters in the basement, the door is now open and with enough coverage to allow machines to access more terrain, but they had not gotten out much where we were. Of note, people were amassing near cabins and trailheads in anticipation of Christmas weekend.
