Snow Characteristics Comments

1 to 2 inches of snow fell early in the morning. By noon, temperatures were very mild and the snow surface was just slightly damp up to around 9500' on all aspects.

Comments

The main purpose of today's outing was to check the Candland snow study plot at the head of Huntington Canyon. The storm board had 11" on it which accumulated since Dec 7. 27" HS (total depth).

The snowpack is consolidated nicely and is stable at this time. I do not anticipate much if any avalanche activity in this area during the upcoming storm.

Note the "paste" squirting out from the front ski as I turn around at the study plot. The snow surface was damp, 8800' elevation.
