I plotted the avalanches and accidents reported in 2016, and in the absence of daily UAC advisories, I thought it might be helpful to share the results. Wednesday 4/27/16 was tied for 2nd place this season in terms of avalanche activity with 9 avalanche reports (other notable days were 3/29 and 1/1 which also had 9 reports). So please keep in mind that the danger may still be high through this weekend! Also, I wonder if UAC could clarify that a grey rose does not mean "no data" or "safer conditions that don't warrant regular forecasting"? (Perhaps you could get rid of the grey rose altogether -- the colors are really helpful!) Sadly, that had been my interpretation, and it was one of the reasons I got caught in a slide on Wednesday. While ignoring the warning signs was certainly my fault, I think it would be helpful to get the word out. I have shared this information with others who thanked me because they did not know that either!! It would at least be helpful for all the newbies out there... Thank you.
