Melt-freeze crust on top with wet snow underneath. Wind and temperatures keeping that crust intact. Great for uphill travel on the solid surface throughout our tour. No settling or collapsing noted.

Good traveling conditions today with the winds keeping the snow surface cold and supportable. Our route was up Cherry Canyon Logging to Draper Ridge into the cirque and up the NW ridge line to the summit. Skied the N couloir and out Bells. Of note today from a "snow safety" standpoint was the very firm snow surface entering from skier's left side into the couloir and throughout the line. It was the kind of conditions where your skis didn't leave any tracks or signs that you'd been through and your pole wouldn't penetrate. Freshly tuned edges recommended...
