Today riding conditions above 7000 feet were still good. Still hit bottom in a lot of places. Avalanche danger is low until the sun affects the slope Spring skiing is all about timing. We have both seasonal timing and daily timing. Today is a great example of that timing. Most slopes in the Northern Wasatch have settled. I was unable to find any reactive wind drifts today. I cut many cornice and stomped on cornice to no prevail in triggering any new avalanches today. I really think we did not get enough snow for anything to really avalanche let along step down. 8”-12” was really the storm total with Powder doing a little better. Solar issues were staled today with clouds on the upper mountains throughout the day. I found cold snow at upper elevations (above 8,000 ft) today even on SE and S aspects where I expected some warming even at upper elevations.
