Snow Characteristics Comments
Lots of faceted snow on steep northerly terrain between 9600-10500'. In sheltered areas the weak snow below the surface seems to not have enough weight on it or in many places, fails to contain a slab with great enough continuity, to be a likely player. In areas loaded by the wind I would suspect there is much greater hazard where a slab with greater continuity sits on top of a similar facet garden. Pit on N, 9800', 30deg. HS160cm, ECTN14 down 35cm on NSF/V. CT12 Q2 on same layer. Slight hardness difference above the 4F weak layer at 35cm and gradually a change to 1F below it in a 2cm transition distance. Facets on ground were moist.
