Snow Characteristics Comments

Nice fast and smooth settled powder (recrystallized snow) and surface hoar. Soft on the surface but 2-4-16 rain-crust supported our weight and kept us from sinking into weak underlying facets, and despite the shallow snow, we did not hit many rocks.

Comments

We found good riding conditions in nice soft recrystallized surface snow.

Many areas had beautiful 2d frost feathers or surface hoar on the snow surface.

A layer of fist-hard faceted snow or depth hoar exists a the base of the shallow snowpack, but a couple solid crusts appear to be holding things together pretty well for now.
