Snow Characteristics Comments

The sun and heat are taking it's toll and it's getting more difficult to find soft snow. Crusts can be found on all aspects but north. Overnight low temps have been giving us a decent refreeze of the snowpack. Surface hoar in all the usual places like lower elevations and in natural sinks. Surface and near surface faceting observed at all elevations and aspects.

Problem #1 Comments

Normal caution where we traveled with the sun being the main source of concern.

Comments

Melt/freeze crust and surface hoar.

Solar induced instabilities.

I've been finding stable, soft snow on north aspects and have been pushing into steeper terrain with no signs of instability. The sun is and has been the major influence on the snowpack over the last few days and will continue to be so through the end of the work week.
