Travel was from the White Pine TH up to the top of Red Pine/Maybird ridge line. I skied down the the ridge a ways before it drops due north towards the Red Pine Chute going into the Little Cottonwood Creek. I descended NE from about 8400 ft and skied down to the Creek. I noticed that the snow got damp around 8000 ft. It was damp until around the base of the Y Coulior, down in near the inversion in the city. It was dry the rest of the way to my house in the Wasatch Resorts.

I dug a pit on a NE facing aspect at about 9400 ft in an undisturbed part of the Red Pine Church. I found about 5-6 feet of snow. I got a CT21 Q3, failing on slightly damp facets near the ground, and an ECTN. The day before I got similar results in a pit in a protected non avalanched part of Main Days.

I wanted to report that most of the steeper slopes I observed today had slid. This is the most widespread natural cycle I have seen here in the Wasatch. It is hard to see now over a week since the natural avalanche cycle, what has an has not slid, but upon poking around and looking closely at a lot of the steeper E,N,W facing slopes, most have slid. I was out of town for the Holidays and got back to see things I've never seen slide, such as the Cabin run off Davenport Hill, or other micro aspects in places such as Hideaway park, etc. What an interesting snow pack we have. Lots of the starting zones have barely any snow and will probably repeat. Other slopes that have not slid are gaining strength or waiting for another snow/wind event to tip the scale.
