Certainly not powder!
Variable.....widespread rain crust below 8000'. above more mixed with rime, heavy snow. Very "rotten" or faceted beneath crust or new rime snow from earlier this week.
With several more inches tonight, fresh wind slabs will develop at upper elevations. Some may build up enough to break the rime layer and step into old snow. Avalanches may wash out all the weak faceted snow to the ground.
A tricky pattern of persistent slab activity is developing. A slab layer is forming currently, capping widespread very weak faceted snow on all aspects and at mid and upper elevations.
